친구 따라 강남 간다고
20대 초반 혈기왕성했던 시기에는
음악 하는
친구 따라 헤비메탈에 푹 빠졌었습니다.
레드제플린, 딥퍼플, 화이트스네이크...
계보를
외우고
창문이 흔들릴 정도로 음악을 크게 들었지요.
지금도 제가 보관하고 있는
LP의 70%가 헤비메탈 음반입니다. ^^
당시 헤비메탈 그룹을 하고
있던 친구에게
누가 롤 모델이냐고 물었더니
예상외로 'Bon Jovi'라는 대답이 돌아왔습니다.
Bon Jovi는 1984년 데뷔한 당시 신예그룹이었습니다.
1986년 'Slippery When
Wet' 라는 앨범을 내면서
전 세계적인 그룹으로 발돋움 하였습니다.
듣기 쉽고
대중적인 헤비메탈 = 팝 메탈.
단순한 멜로디와 댄스음악에나 사용하던 샘플링 사운드를
접목하여
당시 폭발적인 인기를 끌었습니다.
악마(Devil)적인 요소를 강조했던 보통의 메탈 그룹들과는
달리
비교적 건전한 가사도 대중적인 인기를 얻는데 한 몫 했습니다.
자신이 좋아하는 음악을 하는 것이 가장 좋겠지만
대중이 알아주지 않으면
맥이 빠지게 마련이지요.
생경한 한국산 헤비메탈을 추구하던 그 친구에게도
Bon Jovi의
성공은 많은 자극이 되었을 겁니다.
